The Camp

Panorama camp The Camp

Wilderness Island is an exclusive island getaway, hidden over the horizon on the eastern fringe of Western Australia’s Exmouth Gulf. It is the only habitation in the entire eastern gulf region, giving you total seclusion for the duration of your stay.

With only five tent cabins perched on a cliff top just 15m from the water’s edge, your accommodation is simple yet comfortable taking full advantage of the views over Exmouth Gulf.

The laid back atmosphere at Wilderness Island is stress-free and unpretentious making it the ideal place to discuss the day’s itinerary, relax with a book from the library, listen to some great music or just listen to the whisper of waves upon the beach.

Without the daily interruption of crowds, TV, phones and internet, Wilderness Island is the perfect destination to live out a unique wilderness experience. (We do have mobile and internet coverage though)

Our focus is very much on minimising our impact on the pristine environment of the Island and ensuring you can get as close to untouched nature as possible. With that in mind we have made sure our facilities are ecologically sound, always well-maintained and designed to ensure a comfortable, safe, relaxing and memorable experience.

With only 5 beach-front Safari Cabins available for a maximum of 10 guests at any one time, Wilderness Island offers you your own private island.

Our camp offers simple functional facilities designed to minimise any human impact on the fragile natural environment, whilst also ensuring you are very comfortable throughout your stay.

The Safari Cabins

The spacious beach front Safari Cabins sleep two people comfortably and offer beautiful views over the ocean where you can be at one with nature.

With showers on the beach looking out at the ocean the Safari Cabins include mosquito screens and comfortable bedding with linen provided.

Of course if you would like to sleep under the Southern Cross in a swag under the stars we can get that arranged for you!

The Main Camp

The hub of the Wilderness Island is the main camp, offering lounge, dining tent, elevated sun deck and a well appointed kitchen where meals are prepared. The views from the sun deck are simply stunning and a perfect place to enjoy a drink at the end of the day to watch to magnificent sunsets over water.

The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript support are needed.

The main camp is solar powered and fully self contained providing fresh drinking water, gas stove, refrigerator, freezer, 12 volt lights and 12 volt power.
